Annie Lee Halbrook Isbell.

Born May 10, 1899 in Arkansas. Died May 28,
Red River County Texas. Married March 19, 1916 in Clarksvile Texas, Red River
County Texas to John David Isbell, who was born May 28, 1892 in R.R. County.
John Isbell died February 21, 1951. Their children were:    Thurman Merritt.  
 

David Lee Isbell.
Born September 21, 1949, died November 15, 1949.
 
 

Frances Brown Isbell.
Born December 14, 1905, died November 4, 1929, 1st wife of George Washington
Isbell.
 
 

George Washington Isbell.
Born June 19, 1893 in Deport, Texas, died August 29, 1953, married Jan. 20, adopted child Gearld Warren Isbell who was adopted off the orphan train from
Canada when it came through Clarksville,Texas around 1923 or 1924. Gearld
died while serving his county in the Phillipines during World War ll. He was
a prisoner of war being transported to Japan when the ship was bombed by
American Airmen. The ship was not marked as a prisoner of war ship. Very few
survivors of this attack. George Washington Isbell's second wife was Mary
O'Donnell.  George Isbell was also appointed guardian of Sylvia Louvine
Isbell and her little sister Billie Wayne Isbell. George W. Isbell was the
son of Robert Carroll (Bud) Isbell and Mary Susan Westbrook Isbell.
 
 

Horace Gilbert (Gib) Isbell.
Born December 1, 1920, died February 24, 1976, married Helen Ladyman.
Gib as his family called him served in AMMS United States Navy, W.W.ll.
Gib was the son of Annie and John Isbell.
 
 

John David Isbell.
Born May 28, 1892 in R.R. County Tex.,died February 21, 1951, Married
Annie Lee Hallbrook, March 19, 1916, Clarksville, Red River County Tx. John
Was the son of Robert Carroll Isbell and Mary Susan Westbrook.

Funeral services for John David Isbell were held in the Mt. Pleasant Church
at Deport, Thursday afternoon with Rev. Buddy Burgess officiating. Burial
was in Highland Cemetery.
 
 

He was born near Deport, May 28, 1891, son of the late Bud and Mary Susan
Isbell. He moved to Clarksville in 1912 where he has been engaged in farming
and ranching until about a year ago.
 
 

Survivors are his wife, formerly Annie Halbrooks; three sons Bob Isbell of
Clarksville,  Gilbert Isbell of Fort Worth, John Jr., of Shreveport La.; two
daughters, Mrs. Pauline Merritt of Paris, Mrs. Virginia Shell, of Dallas;
one grandson, two brothers, Jim and George Isbell of Clarksville.
 
 

Pallbears were Gordon Isbell, Ted Bolton, Leon Ussery, J.T. Conway, Russell
Conway, Ike Conway, and Harold Conway.
 
 

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. Minnie Maxey, Mrs. Franklin
Baldwin, Mrs. Opal Legion, all of Post, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Ridgway
and Mrs. Ellarean Isbell of Dallas, Mrs. Frank Council of Grand Pairie, Mrs.
Herman Sikes of Fort Worth, Mrs. Ollie Morton of Frederick, Oklahoma; Mrs.
Clarence Taylor of Gladewater, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Taylor of Corsicana, Mr,
and Mrs. Leonard Massey and Milburn Massey of Fullbright.

John David Isbell Jr.
Born June 5, 1923, died April 19, 1966. Married 1st Mary F. Moore, married 2.
Betty Henderson. They have two sons deceased Michael Wayne Isbell and David
Lee Isbell. John Jr. had 2 daughters, Cathy Ann Isbell and Teresa Sue Isbell.
John Jr. has a marker that reads. Texas AOM 2 USNR WW II.
 
 

Michael Wayne Isbell.
Born July 16, 1956, and died July 21, 1956, he was the son of John David
Isbell.
 
 

Pauline Isbell Merritt Fugate.
Born December 25, 1916, died October 7, 1995 Married 1st Thurman Merritt,  
 

Virginia Isbell Shell.
Born 5 October 1927, married Bobby Carroll Shell. Daughter of Annie and John
Isbell. Virginia had two children Brenda Kay Shell born 11-28-1955, and a
son, Mark Allen Shell born 8-24-61.
