Fast and Easy Crib Quilt
One yard of child-friendly fabric,45"wide
One yard of solid or coordinating fabric,45"wide
Crib size quilt batting
Trim off 2" on each side of the fabric you want on top of the quilt.
Lay out the top fabric on top of the quilt batting and trim to the
Turn in ½" on all four sides of bottom fabric and press with iron.
Turn in another 1 1/2" and press.(as if making a hem)Sandwich the batting in between the top and bottom fabrics. Fold
the turned-in edge of the bottom fabric up over the top fabric to form a self-binding. Secure with pins.Hand or machine quilt using a few vertical and or horizontal lines.
An easy way to gauge the lines is to fold the top fabric in half and then half again and press before assembling the layers. Then either follow the lines or mark them with pins. This can be repeated in the other direction to create a box effect. The quilt may also be tied.Hand hem or machine top-stitch the edges of the self-binding
. Mitre or square the corners and stitch down with a needle and thread.For a lighter weight blanket, a layer of flannel may be used for the
bottom fabric and omit the batting. Pre-wash and dry all fabrics before making the quilt to prevent the quilt from drawing up excessively. Wash the quilt when finished to create a puffy effect.

Crochet Preemie Cap
Size F crochet needle
Skein soft baby acrylic yarn
Chain 26 stitches.
Crochet 40 rows.
Crochet first and last rows together to form a tube.
Break off yarn with 8" tail.
Draw through top edge and tie off to gather crown of cap.
Top with hand made pompom or a fuzzy craft pompom.
Every other row may be done in another color to make a striped cap.
Sport yarn and a larger needle can be used to make a larger infant or child-sized cap.
