Crafts for the Uncrafty

Here are a few simple crafts requiring few previous

skills and no special equipment for those of us who

just want to make a little gift or something special

for our home.

Gift Scrapbook

wonderunder or other stitchless sewing product

small amount of quilt batting

scraps of ribbon, lace, cording, buttons, trinkets, silk flowers

hot glue gun

needle and matching thread

Layout fabric on ironing board or ironable flat surface;

Lay open binder, spine down, on top of fabric.

Wrap fabric across binder and trim within 1" of binder rings

And 1 1/2" top and bottom.

Using wonderunder, turn under about 1" of top and bottom of fabric

and each side.

Trim batting to fit fabric

Wrap 6" of each side in and handstitch a simple seamtop and bottom

with a 1/2" seam allowance.

Make sure that fabric is sewn right sides together.

You want to be able to turn the pockets inside-out

to show the right sides of the fabric. Turn right-side-out and press.

Place the batting on the binder with the binder closed.

Trim to the edges and hot glue down. When cool, put the fabric cover on top.

Use the hot glue gun to decorate front of binder with trims and trinkets.

A simple way to personalize would be to spell out

the person's name with ribbon or cord.

Place the pages in the binder. If desired, include stickers and colored paper.
