Vannan

7-7-97

Vannan became a reality to our world on Nov. 1, 1996. That was the day I watched the positive result on the pregnancy test. I didn't know if I was ready yet for a second child, our first daughter was the joy of my life and I couldn't imagine being any more blessed.

We were delighted when on the morning of our seventh anniversary, we found ourselves in labor, called the midwife and spent our anniversary waiting for her birth. It wasn't what you would call a simple home birth, but there was so much love in the room that it really didn't matter to me. We called her our 7's baby, because she had so many 7's at her birth. Even Kendra got to see her new sister being born, and instantly loved her.

Now she is approaching 15 months, and I can't imagine life without her. She is an endless ball of energy, tiny and very loving. She is a Momma's girl all the way - except for those few minutes a day when Daddy gets home from work or when Daddy takes her for a walk or when Daddy reads her the bedtime story. She loves listening to books being read. She loves walks and playing in the park. She loves animals - and tolerates people. She loves to snuggle and be held when she is tired.

Right now she is the great copy cat. If big sister does it, she must do it too. She delights in "helping" with the chores around the house. And her little giggle and bright dimpled smile are a joy to behold. She has a very persistant nature, and in spite of crying for 4 months straight after being born, she now rarely crys and never for very long. She is learning so many new things a day. Always climbing or getting into something. I told my husband - I need a full time baby sitter just to help me keep an eye on her!! Forget buckling her into her high chair. When she has finished eating, she slides right out and runs off to play. She loves to share - especially if you are sharing with her, but she will also bring you her toys and half eaten sandwich.

So here in this household, we are twice blessed and very happy with our two little girls.
