* Shansi sailed into Ista just in time to catch an awful storm. Her ship sank. She was saved, along with most others. She promptly disappeared deep into the Hold to make herself 'presentable.' (and to calm frightened nerves). Then, and only then, she made her rather offensive grand appearance.
* Later, a very satisfied Shansi met a seamstress. This proved a much more flattering conference for the young girl, and she was soon pleased as Sarrala offered to design for her a new wardrobe -- one suited to Ista's heat and storms. How splendid!
* And, on one particular occasion, Shansi met a girl named Lenala. Under the course of their chat, she decided it might be fun to take advantage of her (relative) lack of a reputation in the Weyr and allow a certain amount of insinuation and evasion lend her a new background. And, quickly enough, Shansi thought to explore her purely fictional new role: that of a lust-led young woman?
* Amazingly, there was one morning where Shansi volunteered to work. Then again, perhaps homesickness was the motivation for her assistance. Regardless of reasons behind it, one thing's certain: Shansi was shaving ice!
* Ah, here's the true Shansi. A comment that was perhaps not the nicest sets Shansi into an utter hissy fit. But then, some things just touch the wrong note in a person, ya know? (And does Shansi stand a chance at this Weyr?)
* Uh-Oh. Hissy fit: round two is less a fit and more a fight...until the Weyrleader takes it upon himself to break up the "verbal joust." Will Shansi and Ve ever live this down? Will Shansi be able to survive her soon-to-be-ruined and already-poor reputation?
* Being stolen away to harvest numbweed is not Shansi's idea of fun. But, the Weyrleader insists she must earn her keep, and so ... she harvests. And complains. A lot...
