Donald James Mc Donald was born June 28, 1825, son of Dr. RandallMcDonald (vol.1). He was brought by his parents to Ware County in hisboyhood, and lived there wntil his death April 7, 1871. He was marriedthrice. The first marriage was to Elizabeth, daughter of AbrahamHargaves (Vol.1) ; she was born sept. 9, 1830, and died Pct. 17. 1850.She had no children. The second marriage was in 1852 to Martha Mobley,daughter of Solomon Mobley (Vol.1). She was born Feb. 11, 1836, inTatnall, county, and died July 8, 1861. Three children were born by her.
Mr. McDonald for many years before and during the war, owned a largetract of land mear Glenmore station in Ware county, on which he had alarge palntation farmed by about seventy-five slaves which he owned. Butafter the war due to loss of his slaves and to economic conditions hequit farming and entered the mercanitile business in the village ofWaycross which at the time was called Tebeauville and which was beginningto give some promise of becoming a railroad center, Death however cutshort his business career when he died at the age of 46 years. The deathof his wife four years later, left his children without a parent and theywere taken in charge by their father's father, and reared to maturity.

McDonald was 1st Lieutenant of the militia in the 45stdistrict, 1849-1853, and also held the same rand in the "WiregrallMinute- Men " , a volunteer militia compamy raised in anticipation of warin Novemver, 1860 , following Lincoln's election. He served as aJustice of Ware Inferior Court, 1865-1868.
Mr. McDonald was a member of the kettle Creek Methodist Church, alsoa member of Wareboro Lodge, No. 217, F.& A.M. He became a Mason in1858, and servd as lodge secretary in 1859 and 1869, and died a member,He and his wives were buried in the cenetery at Kettle Creek Church weretheir graves are marked.
