Olwen's Page.
Welcome to my new home. This is the capital city of Victoria, the second smallest of the Australian states, and my home for the last 36 years. I currently live about 35 kilometres from the city, in a suburb called Werribee. Werribee was once farmland, but has been growing steadily until now it is quite a thriving community, with the usual sporting facilities, medical facilities, schools etc. There is even a baseball pitch not far from here which I believe is of world standard, (not that I play or even know much about baseball).

I have one daughter who lives in Werribee along with her husband and children, but my other children live on the other side of the city which means a considerable drive when I go to see them, or when they visit me. Since coming to Australia from England I have lived on the Western side of Melbourne and after my husband retired we went to live in Daylesford for a few years. Daylesford is approximately 90 kilometres from Melbourne, and is beautiful country; hills, lakes, valley's and rivers. Daylesford has it all, but unfortunately it was too far from the kids and the property was too big for us to manage comfortably, so we decided to sell it and move to a unit in a retirement village. We are now able to really enjoy our lives and do the things that we want to do, without the worry of a big house and garden to look after.

Living here has given both of us a new lease on life, with my husband spending much of his time in the village workshop, tinkering away to his hearts content, leaving me in peace to get on with my favourite pastime.......the internet.
As previously stated, I was born in England and lived all my life in a village called Cadishead until a life in Australia beckoned. If anyone from Cadishead or surrounding villages is reading this, I would love to hear from you. My husband Des was born in Baddau in South Wales, but grew up in Radcliffe then Cadishead which is where we met (obviously). We married in 1950 and had five children before emmigrating to Australia and a sixth child was born here. We now have 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandson's, one step great-grandson and one more great grandchild on the way. (Gets very expensive at Christmas).
