Great Tree

I was fishing one day on a beautifull lake,
I was more busy looking beauty in the face.
All around me there was the sound of true, pure nature,
The wind a blowing, in what dirrection, I was not sure.

I watched as a huron did fly across gracefully above,
Then A feeling overwhelmed me and gave me a shove.
I glanced over onto a great tree that had been sawn,
A majestic tree so big and wise, in the water it had fallen.

I tear at the sight of such distruction, what was on their mind!
Here we are living on Mother Earth, and she treats us so kind!
She gives us what we need and now they strip her clean,
What, I ask, has she ever done to you, why are you being so mean!

Great Spirit, take her under your wonderful wing,
Tell her, great pleasure and beauty, she did bring.
In her rememberance, I will plant a tree to carry on for her,
She can be assured that I will care for it, that's for sure.

Why take the home of so many birds that lived by that shore,
As I look to Father Sky, I ask the Great Spirit,"What for?"
Why don't they see that if this continues, we will have no trees,
Leave things alone, nature takes its course, LET IT BE!
