St. Sebastian




Born at Narbonne, Gaul,
Sebastian was a Roman Officer.
Upon the persecution of the Christians,
he secretly gave aid and comfort to the imprissoned
Eventually he was found out and turned over as a christian.
He was ordered to be killed by being tied to a tree
and pierced with arrows.

He survived however and was healed by a widow named St. Irene.
He preached and was later clubbed to death in 288.

He is the patron saint of soldiers, and the plague
as it was that in the 14th century,
teh plague was decribed as being shot by natures arrows.
Thus they prayed to St. Sebastian for help.
