gonna do when they come for you...bad George!"
Posted by George on November 07, 1999 at 11:32:12: This has got to be the most amazing hit I've ever seen! At first I thought it was a prank, so I did a little sleuthing. This George was involved in a burglary (not a robbery) on Sat. 11/6/99 at 1 AM. This was confirmed by the bakery, who by the way thought my call was "a little strange!" The bill was entered a mere 6 1/4 hrs after the crime! I thought hmmmm... must be an employee or police officer who made the entry. I anon. e-mailed the Georger, and he is a Bremerton Police Officer who gave me an account of what happened and also said I could share this with other Georgers. He copied down the URL and serial number prior to returning the money. By reading my comment and an account of the crime, it's obvious how George made his way to the bakery. Here is a quote from the Bremerton Sun (Sunday 11/7 edition) and a link to the George follows: "A man was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of breaking into McGavin's Bakery. A 911 caller reported the burglary as he saw it happen, and police officers who arrived a minute later noticed a man walking quickly away and looking back at the bakery, Bremerton Police reports said. The man's jacket pockets were overflowing with rolls of coins, reports said. He also had several packets of $1 bills." -George The
George that didn't get away...
Georger George posted a 2nd time...
: I just realized I could copy and paste the officer's letter. Here it is: : I don't mind you sharing the story. I'm a Bremerton Police Officer. We got a call about 1 A.M. that a witness was watching someone breaking into the bakery. We arrived immediately and caught the burglar sneaking across Wycoff with his pockets stuffed full of the bakery's money. When we were later placing the money into evidence, a fellow officer pointed out the Where's George printed on the bill. He explained to me what it was. I copied down the bill information, looked up the web site and then entered it. The money will be returned to the bakery after it is released by the prosecutor. It should be back in circulation soon. : The article about the burglary should be in the Saturday Sun. Any police activcity that happens after about 8 PM doesn't get into the next day's Sun. Sometimes the reporters miss the good reports as the shift through the piles of ordinary reports so it's not 100% that it will be in the paper. : This site is facinating and I wll start
looking for the marked bills.
