Ok, you've visited Where's George? and discovered you have a cool hit!  Congratulations!!!  Now you want to share your pride and joy with fellow Georgers...  You go to the Public Forum and click on "Post a Message" now what do you do?  For those who need very basic, step-by-step instructions for linking a "hit bill" to the Wheres George? Public Forum perhaps this will help.

PRESUMPTIONS:  You're using a PC in a Windows '95 (or higher) based environment and you are using Netscape or MS Internet Explorer as your browser and you know little or nothing about cutting, copying pasting, etc. in a Windows/Frames environment. [ If you're using a MAC, a different operating system or another browser, sorry, I don't know how to take you through it step-by-step. If anyone uses a MAC or other system and wants to include a how-to please e-mail me and we'll get it published too.]
If you don't know how to move back and forth between windows, GO HERE FIRST!!
 
The easiest way is to simply highlight & copy the link from the one in the Your Bills report and paste that to the "Optional Link URL" and give the link a title.
Copy Link Location
  1. Bring up "Your Bills" and select the Report that has the bill you want to link.
  2. Once you've found the serial number of the bill you want to link, instead of clicking on the serial number with the left mouse button,  click on it with the right button (opposite button if your mouse is a southpaw)  a drop down menu will appear which will look something like the Netscape illustration shown.
  3. Select from the menu: For MSIE use,  "Copy Shortcut" For Netscape use, " Copy Link Location" 
  4. Now go to the Public Forum Message board, and select POST MESSAGE
  5. at the bottom you'll see space for linking...
  6. Click the edit box for "Optional Link URL" with the right button. Another menu appears.
  7. Choose "Paste" from the menu.
  8. Fill in a Link Title, such as "My bill!".
  9. Click the "Post Message" or "Submit Follow Up" button.
 
Here's where you paste the URL. Right click put your mouse cursor in the "Optional Link URL and....

Left click and select PASTE the URL here. Easy, eh?

 
 
Don't forget to give the URL a title

Point left.gif If you don't give a title when the message is posted, nothing will show up for folks to click on!
Another  way is to open the hit report in a separate window, then highlight & copy the URL (from the address in the "Location" bar in Netscape) and paste that to the "Optional Link URL"   ** To open any frame as a separate window, put your cursor in the frame and click once with your right (opposite button for southpaws) mouse button - that makes sure the correct frame is selected - then click on the left (opposite button for southpaws) mouse button and select "Open Frame in a New Window"
  • Open the hit report you want to link in a separate window.
  • Highlight the Location URL (in the window at the top of the browser)  by  placing your mouse cursor in the window, clicking once with your right mouse button to highlight it
  • select "copy" then
  • paste it to the Public Forum Message as described above.
