We did a grand job hosting and competing

well done, Australia!

The Olympic Torch set off across the world

and around Australia on the longest,

most varied and spectacular journey in Olympic history

It was relayed by 10,000 runners through more than 1,000 Australian towns and suburbs, passing within an hour’s drive of 85 per cent of the country’s population. It passed through some of Australia’s most dramatic and inspiring scenery on a 27,000-kilometre journey

My friend, Pete carrying the Olympic flame in Melbourne

Dipping beneath the Great Barrier Reef in a submersible, two train journeys,  a camel ride and a ferry crossing to Tasmania, the flame arrived on Bondi Beach to board a surfboat rowed by bronzed Australian lifesavers on its final leg to Sydney Olympic Park

Nifty eh?
