She was about 5 ft 3in tall, weighed about 150 lbs and had red hair and light blue eyes.
She liked to crochet and embroider.
She had all the children christened in the Episcopal Church. She later joined the Pentecostal Church and enjoyed going to church very much.
She also liked to go to DeSoto Park and Community Center. Whenever they had a carnival at the park, she would play the part of a Gypsy fortune teller. She collected beads from all over the neighborhood to make her costumes. At the Community Center they made such things as hats, pictures, and other such things.
She wasn't very affectionate, but she had a lot of friends. She always helped anyone that needed it. She was always ready to help wait on anyone who was sick.
She had a Brindle Bull Dog that she raised from a pup. She called him George and thought an awful lot of him. One day he got out of the yard and chased a boy in the park. The dog tore the boy's pants and his mother had the dog picked up and held for ten days to check for rabies. The way Mother acted you would have thought that a member of the family had been sent to jail.
She always had chickens. She would set the hens and raise new chickens every spring.
She liked all kinds of flowers. She had pot plants all over the house and the yard was full of flowers also.
She had trouble with her heart for many years. She had a blood clot in the heart and it finally killed her.
On Mother's Day Claire sent her a dress and Dorothy sent her an Orchid. Grover made her picture wearing them. On Monday she had what she thought was indigestion. She was ill all week, and on Thursday evening she asked Grover to take film to the drug store to be developed. He was gone about 45 minutes and when he got back she was dead. He at first thought she was asleep because she looked so peaceful.
She died May 18, 1950 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetary at the foot of William's grave.
