Mrs. E. Strain, Modesto, Ca. (this lady may have been elderly or something in 1960's. She is very muddled at times with her information.)

Notes by Frances M. Walters:

There were also supposed to have been two more sons-desceased by 1856. Walter, who went to Clarke County and was never heard from again after massacre of Ft. Mims (1813). Benjamin, Jr. was the other son. He left three children; Robert Crittenden Griffin, Martha and Sophia.

Family tradition is that Benjamin and Polly had ten sons. At time of settlement of Benjamin Griffin Sr.'s estate, his son Benjamin, Jr. was desceased. Benjamin, Jr.'s children received his part. They were Robert Crittended Griffin, Martha Griffin and Sophia Griffin.

Of this family, David, Henry and John (Jack) went to Texas.

Benjamin Griffin, Sr. moved his family from Virginia to Wicks (Wilkes?) County, Georgia before March 1802, later to Alabama. Settled on "Goat Hill" on spot near or where state capitol now stands. Later to Bibb County. He and his wife are buried in Griffin near Active and Lawley, Alabama, Bibb County.

Byrd Griffin made a settlement of Tarleton Griffin's estate.
