bullet Permilia Elizabeth Griffin was born on 21 Feb 1868 in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. She died on 19 Mar 1952 in Caddo, Bryan county, Oklahoma.

Permilia Elizabeth Griffin was born on February 21, 1868 at Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas. She had two brothers and three sisters. She was near youngest. Her parents are buried in or near the town of Cooper's Chapel, Near Mt. Pleasant. Her childhood was spent on the Ellis ranch in Titus County. The land had originally belonged to her father but after his death (sometime after 1878) it was sold to Mr. Ellis. She lived with an older sister.

Aunt Eula said that Permilia told her that once some woman in the Jenkins family was captured by Indians and had a child. She thought back in Mississippi. Aunt Eula thinks that the Jenkins family was first in Mississippi, then Arkansas, then Texas.

She married James J. Jenkins (the Jenkins' and Griffins' lived about five miles apart) sometime around 1883. Permilia always said that she married when she was 15 years old.

Permilia died on March 15, 1952. Frances M. Walters had this to say about her grandmother:

"Grandma was a small, bent and very energetic woman. She regularly attended the local Pentecostal church and was very devout and well known for the strength of her religious faith. She told me that she had been 'saved' when she was 23 years old. Granny had a stong and rather deep singing voice and was very fond of religious songs. Sometimes while we were visiting her there would be a revival meeting in progress at the church and Granny would attend each night. She lived on a hill about a half-mile outside Caddo and would walk to the church. Later we would watch her coming up the hill toward the house, her coal oil lantern swining at her side. When she died her lantern was placed on the pulpit at her funeral."
