Frances Mozelle Jenkins was born on 29 Aug 1926 in Kirk, Limestone County,
Texas. She died on 3 Jun 1984 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.
Frances Mozelle Jenkins was born in Lubbock, Texas on August 29, 1926, the daughter
of James and Lorene (Griffis) Jenkins.
She moved with her family to Groesbeck, Limestone County, Texas when she was
about three years old. There they lived for perhaps a year before leaving Groesbeck
for the small farm community of Kirk, also in Limestone County. She started
to school in Kirk but when she was eight years old, the family moved to a farm
nearer to Groesbeck. Later they moved back into Groesbeck itself.
She attended school in Groesbeck until 1942. In that year she went to stay with
an Aunt in Lubbock where she attended business school for several months.
Her father and mother whent to work at the Bluebonnet Ordinance plant in McGregor,
Texas. In order to be closer to their work, they moved from Groesbeck to Waco,
Texas.
In Waco she met Harry John Walters, a serviceman from Pennsylvania who was stationed
at an airfield in Waco. They were married in the living room of her grandmother's
home in Groesbeck on July 4, 1943.
Late in her life, she became active in a number of organizations; the American
Legion, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR # 66109), and the Daughters
of the Confederacy. She was very interested in geneology and spent twelve years
gathering much of the information in this book.
She died of cancer on June 3, 1984 and at her request was buried with her father,
mother and grandmother in Faulkenberry cemetery, Groesbeck.

It is not known for a fact whether James was born in Mississippi, Arkansas or
Tennessee. It is said that his mother gave him a drink of water from a frying
pan when they crossed the Mississippi River on their way to Texas (he was a very
small boy).
James J. Jenkin's father fought in the Civil War from Texas as far as is known.
He returned to Titus County, Texas after the War and died before too much longer.
Aunt Eula said that James told how when he was a little boy the old blue coats
(yankee soldiers) would come and beat his father. Young James would bring his
mother sticks of stove wood to drive the soldiers off with.
He was orphaned at seven or eight years old and was raised by Rhoda Kimblen.
James had older brothers and sisters. He was near the youngest. One brother,
Robert Lee Jenkins, was born October 12, 1866. Robert Lee lived with James and
Permilia until he married at age 45.
James and Permilia were married under a tree in the yard of a home on the Ellis

They moved to Oklahoma in December, 1900.
