[15] Hans setled in the Salisbury Hundred near the mouth of the Conococheague Creek near present day Williamsport, Maryland before 1730. He recieved a grant for "poorland" near the mouth of the Concocheague Creek on September 11, 1754. He served in Jonathan Hager's company of Militia in the French and Indian War.

Research shows that Jonathan Hager's company did numerous hit and run raids on enemy and colaborator's camps. They lived of the land and were very hard to track. Out of 150 men, only four were killed in two years. The were reported to have killed almost 1,000 French troops and indians.
