Dear Caitlin:

Happy Halloween! What a special time of year this

is for you... you get to dress up like a Wonder Woman

and visit all the homes in your neighborhood for treats.

Not me... I never go anywhere because I am a haunted house.

Would you like to know what Halloween is like for me?

Well, take a step inside. It's very dark inside a haunted

house, isn't it? You can hear all kinds of noises but

you can't really tell where they come from. I can help

you because I know everyone who lives here with me.

Do you hear that? That's Blackie, a cat who lives in

the kitchen. She only likes the kitchen and doesn't

visit the other parts of the house (that's me).

If you hear chains rattling, that's the Boo's,

the ghost family that lives in the basement.

They sure do love to make lots and lots of noise!

Do you hear that?! That's Hairy Monster. He comes

and goes wherever he wants... I'm not going to tell

a monster he can't explore all my rooms. We all see

children running up and down the street

trick-or-treating. It must be fun getting all that

candy! I bet you want to get nerds and candy bars.

Those are my favorite treats, too! Make sure your

Mommy checks out your candy first, though, you

don't want to be 'tricked' into eating something

you don't want! It's been nice talking to you but I

better let you go. I have to look spookier than ever

on Halloween night and that means I've got to

loosen some shingles, bang my shutters, and hope

for one of my sides to fall in.
