[NI18132] Thomas was in America by 1653, and was the man mentioned by Drake, (History of Boston, p. 331,) as admitted, on Jan 5 of that year, an inhabitant of Boston. The same year he moved to Springfield, MA. Though not one of the founders, he may be considered as one of the early settlers of that ancient town. In 1664, in connection with several of his townsmen, he had liberty granted him to erect a saw-mill on the west side of the Connecticut River. Though a man of activity and industry, he seems to have early fallen into a habit of living beyond his means, and soon found himself in debt. In 1667, to pay his debts, he turned over his house in Springfield, and all his lands except a grant towards Windsor. In the hope of improving his condition, and providing for the wants of a large and growing family, he joined those who were beginning a settlement at Westfield, MA. Lands there were granted to him in July 1666, on condition that he settled on them before the last of May 1667. The grant was forfeited by non-settlement, but was renewed 9 Jan 1668, and the time of settlement extended to 10 Nov 1668. The first record of him there was 21 Jan 1669. He was chosen constable of Westfield and was sworn into office 7 Apr 1674. He took the oath of allegiance to his Majesty 23 Jan 1678. He joined the Westfield church 20 Feb 1681, was made a freeman 12 Oct 1681, and took the freeman's oath 26 Sep 1682. In 1685 he was granted rights to build a saw-mill. He was chosen county surveyor 2 Mar 1696.
[NI18245] Hannah joined the Westfield church 11 Nov 1680.
[NI18251] By 1694 John was living in Hadley, MA, and was a furrier or trader. In Feb 1695 he bought land in Westfield, and returned there. He was chosen constable 2 Mar 1696. On 20 Apr 1702 he is called "trader", and on 1 Sep 1703 he is called "innholder." In 1707 he moved to New Milford, CT.
[NI18252] Will dated 4 Oct 1729, proved 13 Oct 1741.
[NI18253] Chosen selectman in 1716, 1720, and 1722. Moderator of most of the town meetings from 1717 to 1726.
[NI18255] He was a farmer, and was chosen in 1713 as "surveyor for town, county and countrey roads," constable in 1720, tithingman 1725.
[NI18256] Elizabeth put herself under the watch of Westfield church, 19 Aug 1694. As early as Oct 1707 she removed to Colchester, CT.
[NI18017] Luke was a farmer in Westfield. He joined the Westfield church 24 Nov 1700. His will was the only one executed by any of the six sons of Thomas Noble.
