[NI17217] Came from England with Rev. Hooker's Company. Resident of Braintree, MA, by about 1632. Removed soon to Cambridge, then called Newtown. Freeman 6 May 1635. Removed to Hartford, CT, 1636, where he was an original proprietor. Constable 1639. He married about that time Rebecca, widow of Samuel Greenhill. In the Distribution he is described as in possession of the house-lot and lands of Greenhill, until the two children come of age. He was licensed for exclusive right to retail liquors, May 1660; to keep an ordinary, March 1661/62. He was appointed custom-master, May 1663; freed from watching and warding at the age of 60, 2 March 1664/65; townsman, 1671. In his will he gave his property to his grandson, Zachary Sandford, the children of his son John, and the children of his son-in-law Willett. His widow survived him, although she is not mentioned in his will. Will dated 4 Aug 1683, proved 6 Sep 1683. His estate was valued at £243.5.6. The house of his executor, Nathaniel Willet, was burned, and in it all the books and papers of Jeremy Adams.

[NI18970] Inventory of his estate, dated 9 Nov 1670, amounted to £74.15.6.

[NI18968] "Original Proprietors of Hartford" says Hannah married Nathaniel Willett.

[NI18972] Living on 16 July 1653 when she was a legatee in the will of Thomas Greenhill, her half-brother.

[NI18971] Probably died young. Certainly deceased by 16 July 1653, when he was not named in the will of Thomas Greenhill, his half-brother.
