[NI1749] Joseph Loomis was a linen and woolen draper at Braintree, England. Sailed from London 11 Apr 1638 in the "Susan & Ellen", arr. Boston 17 Jul 1638 bringing 3 daughters and 5 sons. He and wife Mary (White) lived at Dorchester for about a year; later settled at Windsor, Conn. in 1639. He is supposed to have come to Windsor with Rev. Ephraim Huit, who arrived 17 Aug 1639. 2 Feb 1640 he was granted 21 acres of land adjoining the Farmington River, and his house was on what was known as "the Island" because at every freshet it temporarily became an island. Stiles says "This Ancestral Home" has been in perpetual possession of his descendants. He served twice on the jury of the Particular Court 2 Mar 1642-3 and Sep 1644.
[NI1751] Granted 4 acres of land from the Plantation on 3 May 1643. Freeman in 1654. In 1660 he acquired land on the east side of the Conn. River. He was a member of Windsor Troop of horse, and was in King Phillip's War, 1675-6.
[NI1713] Living at Killingworth, CT in 1665.
[NI1754] Admitted to Windsor Church on 11 Oct 1640. Granted 40 acres of land from the Plantation on 3 May 1643. He resided in Farmington from 1652 5o 1660, when he returned to Windsor, and was Deacon of the church. Deputy to the General Court in 1666 and 1667, and also from1675 to 1687.
[NI1755] He was freeman in 1654, and admitted to the church 3 Apr 1666. He served in King Phillip's War. Owned a farm in E. Windsor.

He was a lieutenant in Simon Davis' company in an engagement at Lake George, 8 Sept 1755. In the campaign of 1759 he commanded a company from Westfield and vicinity. He was afterwards an officer in the American Revolution.
[NI18193] During the Revolutionary War, he was drafted 14 Jan 1778 for a guard at Springfield, MA. He was then a corporal.

[NI18196] Ashbel went out May 1777 in to Revolutionary War for eight months service, and died of smallpox during the war.
[NI18198] Occupation: blacksmith. Resided in Pittsfield and Benson, VT. He died at the house of his brother, Asa, in Westfield, while there on business.
