Let me introduce myself. I'm Laura, a stay-at-home mum to 8 year old Thomas and 5 year old Ebony.
July 5, 1999, I happened to do a pregnancy test, 3 in fact, and received some wonderful news that number 3 offspring was indeed on the way!
Why 3 pregnancy tests? Well I tend to be a bit slow in the conception area due to a condition known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It means I tend not to ovulate more than I do ovulate so any conceiving is thought to be pure luck!! We decided 2.5 years ago to try for a third baby, and after a miscarriage last year, we were beginning to think our chances of number 3 were pretty slim! So when I saw that first positive pregnancy test I couldn't believe my eyes - I needed a second and third opinion. I also had another test at the doctor's a few days later so I guess that was my fourth opinion!!
This website will follow my progress as much as I am able to keep it up to date. I have decided to start it now at 12 weeks, because I feel much better now than I did a few weeks ago, and more confident that this pregnancy will be a happy one.
I am 12 weeks pregnant now and after 5-6 weeks of feeling pretty sick and sorry-for-myself I am now feeling much better. The tummy has settled down, even if it does protrude more than I'd like! I still feel a bit weary, but that too should pass in a week or so. I can now settle back and enjoy my pregnancy glow which I hope to get sometime soon!
My first trimester was up-and-down for me - anxiety soon passed when the nausea kicked in - last year when I miscarried I didn't have very many pregnancy symptoms at all, so for a while at least I was very relieved to feel sick!
Today I clocked over to 13 weeks. I must have gotten a bit cocky about feeling so much better, because the past few nights the nausea crept back, but nothing like it was before, thankfully! My belly is making it's presence noticed so out come the big t-shirts and elastic waisted pants!
According to the pregnancy sites, baby is approx 3 inches long now and is pretty much fully formed. All the hard work like organ forming is over and it's just going to get bigger from now on!
At the moment I'm 15 1/2 weeks and it feels like the time is going really quickly! I've had pain in my right arm that seems to get worse as the days go by, some people think it's caused by excess fluid pressing on nerves and others think it's caused by me using the computer!! ARGHHHH!!! Let's hope I don't lose my computer priveleges - hehe! I'm hoping to feel flutters soon, I think I have felt a couple of 'pops' every so often, but too vague to be really sure if it's the baby or not!
17 weeks now - the time seems to be flying by! I've had a splint made for my arm, the specialist said I have De Quervains Condition, an inflammation of the tendons in my thumb, wrist and up the back of my arm. He didn't know whether it's pregnancy related or not so we'll see how it goes now I have to rest it. I still feel the occasional 'bubble' pop that might be baby, hard to tell. I'm looking forward to the ultrasound next week - hoping for ONE happy, healthy baby in there! :)
I can't believe I'm 19 weeks already! Almost half-way! I'm feeling really well and enjoyed my ultra-sound last Monday. It took a bit longer than usual because the baby was wriggling so much! Which is good news (I think! hehe) It has all it's arms, legs, fingers, toes, etc. but we decided not to find out which sex which was probably just as well because I don't think the operator would have been able to get it to sit still long enough to find out!! And here's a picture......

22 weeks - where's the time going??!! Well, the past couple of days I've had some wonderful strong kicks - ones that make my tummy jump! Worth waiting for that's for sure! Everything's going fine, except for a little query with the ultra-sound results. Apparently, they're concerned that the baby's stomach was empty, there could be a problem with the oesophageas. I'll be going for another scan in about 3 weeks so the doctor can have another look - till then, there's nothing we can really do except think positive!
Well, I've left the 20's and am now 30!! Does that make me a grown-up now? Hehe
Went to see my doctor yesterday for a check-up and he's happy to put me in the 'boring' category! Suits me just fine! The doc said not to worry about the scan results, if there was a problem the baby wouldn't be swallowing any fluid which would mean I would have a tight tummy that would feel bigger than I should be at 25.5 weeks. Because I'm the size I should be with a soft bump, he's reassured me considerably! Also, I've felt the baby hiccup, so that's always a sign of a healthy baby, according to the old wives' tales anyway!!
27 weeks and Christmas just around the corner! I find I can't eat too much now or I get very uncomfortable so Christmas dinner might be a snack this year! The baby is busy kicking, jumping and making it's presence felt which is a wonderful feeling!
30 weeks on the last day of the year!! This belly of mine is a very busy bundle with all sorts of kicks, prods and nudges going on! Great entertainment for Thomas and Ebony! Luckily, our summer has become quite mild at the moment, so the swollen ankles have gone for the time being. We had a great Christmas - the baby bump even got a pressie!! Once we get the house back to normal after the Christmas decorations get put away it will be time to start on the baby's room! I'm sort of looking forward to it - it will be nice to get it all pretty and ready, but the amount of junk we have to move out isn't very appealing!!
31 and a bit weeks! Looks like the hot weather is moving in - along with the fat ankles!! Oh well - can't complain too much, the mild weather was fun while it lasted!! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so we'll see how much Christmas cheer will show up on the scales! Baby has been so active - it can give quite a strong kick now! And we finally have the baby's room looking decent! I washed some of the kids' baby clothes the other day, it was wonderful seeing tiny clothes out on the clothes line again - I can't believe they were ever that small!!
I'm 32 plus weeks now and had a wonderful day yesterday. We had another scan just to see if the baby's oesophageas is working as it should and the baby had a wonderful full tummy which gives us the all clear! My ob had pretty much put my mind at ease, but seeing it for sure was a huge relief! The baby is very cute - chubby cheeks and a little turned up nose. The scan operator could tell what sex it is, but we've decided to wait and see.....it was tempting though!! We've had about 10 days of very hot weather but today we've had a wonderful cool change that I hope stays for a while. It's nice to have my ankle bones back again!!

I'm 34 weeks now and tomorrow the kids are back at school! It will be Ebony's first day at school and I'm hoping to stay dry-eyed although these pregnancy hormones can be pretty unpredictable. I hear a touching song on the radio and I find myself in tears!!
I've had to pretty much forget grace and comfort - at 34 weeks there's no such luck! Sleeping can be tricky right now, I'd be lost without my U-shaped pillow that I use under my tummy and between my knees. It sure helps my back. If I'm lucky I'll get a burst of energy every now and then but I would be more productive if they happened more often!
I found the following cartoon the other day! Gave me a giggle!

Well the kids settled into school with no problems at all - Ebony couldn't wait to see the back of me - no school jitters there!!
So, I'm at 35+ weeks now - not too long to go, but they'll probably feel like the longest weeks in my life!! This weather sure tests my moods!! Some days I get bursts of energy and others it's an effort to get out of bed! Actually come to think of it, it's always an effort to get out of bed....hehe
Had a check-up at the doctor's yesterday, I'm fine and baby is fine - kicking more than rolling over now, I think it's running out of room!
The household is divided about whether this baby is a 'he' or 'she' - when I talk about it for some reason I say 'he' and the kids and Michael say 'she' - I wonder who'll be right?!!
36+ weeks already!! Had a pre-admission interview at the hospital yesterday and I felt really nervous!! I heard a couple of brand new baby cries and realised that I don't just have an uncomfortable lump but a real baby!! You'd think having had 2 already I'd be a bit more aware of that fact, but it still feels 'unreal' in a way!!
I'm really looking forward to getting my body back and not feeling so tired and achy! My feet are enormous and I definitely have a pregnant waddle! But I try not to complain too loudly!!
37 weeks and totally sick of waiting!!! Actually today is a better day - lots of rain and 28 degrees - so much better than 37 or 38!!! I could actually wear my own shoes this morning instead of Michael's thongs! I went to the doctor in between visits last Friday just to check my fluid - I'd put on 3 kilos in a few days because my legs and feet were so swollen. Fortunately, my blood pressure and urine were both normal so I was sent home with orders to put my feet up! There's so much I can do laying on my back with my feet up on the back of the couch!! So now they've gone down a lot I can get some work done!!
I don't mind being pregnant when the weather is mild.....it's when it gets hot that I go mad!! But other than that everything is going just fine!! Baby's kicking lots and seems quite happy!
My other 'baby', Thomas, turns 8 on Wednesday and luckily doesn't seem too disappointed that Mama's too big to throw a party! We're taking him out on the weekend with a friend for a bit of a treat which he seems to be happy with! Next year he can have more of a celebration! And there'll be an almost 1 year old to celebrate with!! Now that's hard to imagine!
Well it's THE month already!! I'm 38.5 weeks now and to say I'm sick of being pregnant is an understatement!! I just want to meet this little person and nibble his/her neck!!
We have had a bout of humid weather which was horrible to say the least. I don't know how people handle the tropics!! The past few days have been hot but a lot drier which has been easier to cope with. My feet and legs are way up still, but yesterday I found some peppermint foot spray which has been wonderful. Really cools down hot and tired feet. I think I might get myself a 44 gallon drum of it and sit inside it for the next week or so!! Hehe
I'm hoping that next time I write I'll be introducing our baby.....fingers crossed!!
