St Mary's was an all girl`s
school.
That had one very firm rule.
Because a boy`s school was within a shout.
Boyfriends were definitely out,
The girl`s time would be spent productively,
Their nose`s in books reluctantly.
At breaktime some of the girls could be seen
Sitting on the school wall ever so keen.
To catch the eye of any male
Who wandered by.It could not fail
To send a message to any boy,
St. Marys girls were far from coy.
The age old story of boy meets girl.
Was helped towards its social whirl.
By friends who willfully called the fate.
Of many a girl who stood by the gate.
"She fancies you" was oft the cry,
While "She" hurried to hide as "He"
went by.
For weeks they would catch each other`s eye,
Until the very day there arrived a note.
Let us meet tonight on the corner he wrote,
At half past seven and signed it Kevin.
She blushed she smiled in seventh heaven.
Her answer was " Yes I`ll meet you there."
Her friend moved close and said "Take care."
She shook her head and looking sad,
Said, "What have I done, my Dad will go mad."
"I`ll come with you it`ll be alright.
I don`t want you and your Dad to fight."
As true love goes they made a match.
She was very proud of Keven, her catch.
They stayed together and married as soon
As they turned eighteen, in the June.
It`s fifty years since they were wed.
And no strong words between them said.
They had two children one of each.
A happy couple who are proud to reach
Their Golden Wedding, still in love.
A true blue match made in heaven above.
