Our Version of Troop Crest Meanings

Our Version of TROOP CREST MEANINGS
I received this information from Cricket about troop crests: "The National Equipment Service (NES) is in charge of offering the crests based on sales and demand. If a crest is not selling it is discontinued (like the Oak, which was mine). NES also makes the decision to offer "new" crests. I have a call in to them to see what else I can find out ....who suggests crests, etc. As far as Mary Deganheart in Archives at National knows, there is no "official" list that explains the crests. The meaning is left to the individual troop to determine and can be (does not have to be) based on popular, historical or local interpretation. It could have a particular meaning to the girls themselves that is different from another troop selecting the same crest - but it's meaning should be known to all who have selected it. For example a sailboat might be selected because a group lives on the coast, because many girls sail, because the sail represents (to them) individuality and freedom or practically anything else."
I'd like to thank Cricket for her input and the correction of some of my information. Without her I would just be listing it wrong again. Our girls like to be informed with correct information also.
