TROPAS DE AMISTAD (Friendship/Sister) TROOPS PATCH PROGRAM
(Adapted from the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council)
The Tropas de Amistad program has two purposes. One is to encourage adult volunteers to support and learn from each other. By increasing their circle of volunteer friends, leaders become mentors to each other, sharing successes, challenges and solutions. The other purpose is to provide an opportunity for girls to make new friends, see new things, and share new experiences. Through the Tropas de Amistad program girls and adults sharpen leadership and communication skills, learn acceptance of cultural differences, and much, much more…they make lifelong friendships. This is a great way for everyone to learn more about their Girl Scout family.
Troops may register through the Resource Center where they will be matched up with a troop of similar size and age or find their own friendship troop. The troops meet together, complete the activities required, and can then purchase the Tropas de-Amistad (Friendship Troops) patch at the Girl Scout Shop.

All levels should complete four (4) activities, including the starred activity, with their Amistad troop. Be sure to involve the girls in the planning.
(Applications for friendship troop matches are available in the Resource Center.)
*1.) Meet with your Amistad Troop at least four times throughout the current Girl Scout year.
Possibilities include:

5.) Have a cookout or create a camp book of favorite camp recipes, snacks, games, activities, etc. of all the Amistad sisters.

6.) Plan and learn a craft from another culture with your Amistad troop. Each troop should share something it has learned about that culture with the other troop.
