It was February 14,
Valentine's Day, and Tom's school class was ready for the Valentine Party.
The helping parents were in charge and the children were
seated at their desks. They first passed out
their Valentine cards to everyone. With their bundles, they
walked around the room, placing the
cards on the desks. It was soon time for a game. The first one was "Pin
the Arrow on the Heart." The children were blindfolded (close
eyes) and spun around several times. The class
was so dizzy that they almost fell over. The children
tried to find the big heart on the blackboard. They walked
forward; no, wrong way. They turned left, then
to the right, taking four steps. They felt
the blackboard and pinned the arrows on it. The
blindfolds were removed and eyes opened.
The class had pinned the arrows on the school
calendar!
The next game was a race. Everyone was given a suitcase
filled with clothes which they had to put on in the proper order. Then
they were to run to the other end of the room, take the clothes off, and
replace them in the suitcase. Ready? Open the
suitcase, put on the baggy slacks, rain hat, rain
coat, boots, gloves and open the umbrella.
Run to the other end of the room. Now close
the umbrella, take off the gloves,
boots, rain coat, rain hat, and slacks and
put everything in the suitcase. Sit down
quietly!
The next game was "Cupid Says", played like
"Simon Says". Cupid says do four jumping jacks.
Run in place. Cupid says swing your arms in circles
without touching anyone. Cupid says hop seven times on
the right foot. Hop on the left foot seven times. Cupid says
hop ten times on both feet. Skip around the room. Cupid
says skip around the room. Cupid says stretch and
reach for the ceiling, standing on tiptoes. Bend
down. Cupid says walk like a duck around your desk. Cupid
says bend up and down to touch toes ten times. Stop!
Cupid says put hands on your waist, lean to the
left, back, right, and front five times. Cupid says sit
down at your desk. Who wins?
It was soon time for
refreshments. The children enjoyed eating the chewy
cupcakes and heart candies and opening their Valentine
cards. It was a nice party.
