WENDY AND THE SQUIRREL
The children can be Wendy the cat, crawling on hands and knees. They could also make the meow sound.
Wendy the cat was curled up tight, sleeping. She must have heard the refrigerator door open because she lifted her head and opened her eyes wide, rolling them around to catch sight of everything in the room. Then she pulled back her ears, listening carefully as the food was placed in her food dish. This was just too much for her curiosity. Wendy slowly got up on all four feet and took a few steps. She stretched her two front legs out on the floor and even spread her toes, showing her claws. Then she stretched out her two back legs while standing on her front legs.

Hearing her food dish again, Wendy scurried into the kitchen to a tuna surprise. She sat and chewed. Wendy thought it was great as she licked her lips and washed her face with her front paw. Wendy walked over to the door and began meowing, trying to say she wanted to go outside. The cat meowed again and rubbed her shoulders against the wall.

Wendy hurried out the door and sat turning her head all around to see what was happening. Her nose began to wiggle. She smelled something - a squirrel! The squirrel saw the cat and ran up the nearest tree. Wendy dashed across the yard and climbed up the tree trunk, stopping suddenly to check on the location of the squirrel. She spotted it up on a higher branch. Wendy was thinking hard; her tail was wagging wildly. The cat climbed to a higher and smaller branch. She walked as if she were on a tightrope, putting one foot in front of the other. The squirrel had disappeared, so Wendy turned her head all around looking for an easy way to get down. Suddenly she let out a horrible meow. Wendy sat on the shaking limb, sad, and meowing as loud as she could for help. She was afraid to climb back down the tree. Wendy had to be rescued with a ladder. Poor Wendy!
