Firstly, a disclaimer. I'm not a great cook by any stretch of the imagination, but my family loves my cooking, and that's what counts. As a rule, I don't use any sugar in my recipes (except for cakes and stuff, for which I use fruit sugar instead of cane sugar), and my children have gotten used to not having any sweets with their meals. For dessert, it's always fruits rather than puddings and ice cream. Sure, they do get their occassional Baskin & Robbins, but that's only given as a treat, and even then, only very, very occassionally.

| The recipes I have here (other than the "Recipe of the Day", which isn't mine) are decidedly Oriental. Specifically, they are Malaysian recipes. I make no apologies for this - after all, I am Malaysian (of Chinese origin), and these are the dishes I have grown up and am familiar with. Some of the ingredients in the recipes may be peculiar to this part of the world - but that's what gives the dishes their character. |
