FIRST, let's "clear up" some terminology...."

For many different reasons (most of which won't matter to you) I no longer use the word "centers." But if YOU use the word centers, you're probably looking for the kind of activity my students do during the time of day we call "Workshop."

Many different kinds of activities go on during workshop, but there are four essential elements for this time:

  • The students choose their own activity.
  • The students work at their own rate of speed to complete each activity.
  • The students work at different skill levels.
  • The students are held accountable for recording activities completed.
