DEAR FRIEND AND FELLOW BIBLE STUDENT:
The chart on the reverse side is intended to show the bible as a time-line. I must make a couple of comments about its origins and use.
First, let me say I lay no claim to the originality of such a study aid. Many men far more blessed with bible teaching skills than I have used similar charts and lines to show bible truths. May I also say that I do not believe a chart such as this is necessary to see what the Lord is telling one.
Next, let me say that it is not my intention to divide the bible up in such a way as to diminish or destroy the use of any part of it. I believe ALL the bible is God's word. Rather, to make the entire book speak to the individual student as to what God said, as he said it, where he said it, to whom he said it.
The chart you will note has three separate lines. the common denominators are:
1.) the BEGINNING WITH ETERNITY BEFORE IT (eternity past)
2.) the END WITH ETERNITY AFTER IT (eternity future) and
3.) the CROSS OF CHRIST-THE FOCAL POINT (eternity's payment)
On the top line are mentioned some events that have already happened as well as some events that are yet going to happen so that you can gain some insight into bible occurrences.
The middle line places the books of the bible into correlation with the events so that you can easily reference the event to the general area of the book.
The bottom area is describing the years (hence, "the time-line")
The speculative portion of the chart is that 2000 years to the right of the cross. I know that nearly that much time has occurred, I've got history to prove it. But, I don't know if that is ALL the time before those pre-determined future events take place. I believe the bible shows us that that is what we can expect. But, it is in the safe and secure hands of God our Savior---and whatever time span he puts on it will be fine with me. I'll praise him for his grace if it will be 4000 years, or whatever.
My prayer concerning this chart and your study with it, is that the Holy Spirit will guide you into all TRUTH and that you will receive that TRUTH. This time-line is just an aid and nothing more. And since I prepared it, it is apt to have errors somewhere.
