About
Us
Located on the southeast tip of
Phuket Island, there is a very special
place called Cape Panwa; a unique landscape fronting the private
beach and ocean on one side, and surrounded by green hills on all other
sides. The large coconut grove planted generations ago, the private
beach which had no name on any maps, the aboundance of coral reefs
further
out from shore; all these until recently were some of the best kept
secrets of Phuket.
It is this unique
environment that makes Cape Panwa Hotel so exclusive and exotic. The
Cape Panwa Hotel itself is situated on a hilltop commanding a panoramic
view of the Andaman sea, with its clear blue water and its many small
islands. The beach, unlike many other hotels' is well protected from
rough seas during the monsoon period from April until
October.
Almost every household
at the local village is some how represented or knows a relative working
at the hotel. We think this is reflected in our warm and genuine
service.
Many,
many famous people have stayed at the Cape Panwa Hotel, from the
heads
of large and small states to well-known film stars. Some came to work,
some came to have meetings and some came to rest. The Foreign
Ministers
of this region, including Australia and Japan, the head of state
of the People Republic of China, Mr. Yang Chang Kun, and
likewise
Mr. Kraisorn Promviharn the President of the People Republic
of Loas
came.Elizabeth Taylor holidayed here after her charity work in
Bangkok.
Bryan Adams, the singer, stopped over to relax during his Far
East
concerts. Oliver Stone, the film director, stayed with us whilst
making
"Heaven and Earth". Ms.Norma Heyman, the producer of
"Dangerous Liaisons",
was here with friends. Geena Davis was making the film "Cut
Throat
Island", and stayed at Panwa Lodge. Likewise the leading actors and
actresses Kristy Swanson
and Catherine Zeta Jones of the film "The Phantom" and the film
crew of "young Indiana Jones" made
their homes here for a while. Pierce Brosnan, Ms.
Michelle Yeoh were
guests during the
filming of the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies". Joan
Chen was
here during the filming of "Turtle Beach". in fact Panwa House was
featured in one of the movie scenes. Very endearing to our staff was
Leonardo Di Caprio whilst here with Ms.Virginie
Ledoyen and the crew
of "The Beach" film for almost a month. The list is indeed much longer
than this and includes writers, beauty queens, T.V. personalities
from the U.K., Japan and the U.S. The hotel itself has been filmed
by Kiss Program Japan, CNN, BBC and Discovery Channel.
We
are honoured to have served the famous, and enjoyed having them with
us. Without exception, we found all of them very charming. All the
same we have not forgotten who are our real and most valued customers;
it is all of you who came to have a good holiday or to find a reclusive
place for an important meeting. It is with this in mind that we keep
up our service, our quality, and preserve all the good things at Cape
Panwa that should personify a tropical island like Phuket. Last but
not least, we have always made our prices reasonable so that you will
keep coming back to us over and over again.
