The official name of Egypt is Arab Republic of Egypt or Jumhuriyat Misr Al-Arabia. Currency is the Egyptian pound divided into 100 Piastres.
Consult your doctor before you take this trip and check if you have the necessary injections. You will need: Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A., Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid and Malaria pills. There is also rabies in Egypt.
Be careful with what you eat. Avoid ice cubes and ice cream use bottled water.

There are many ways to explore Egypt. You can rent a car or take a tour provided 
by a local tour operator or take an organized holiday booked in your own country. 
We took the organized trip. We didn't have to worry where to sleep or what to eat, everything was taken care off. A relaxed way of spending your vacation.

When we arrived in Cairo our hostess was waiting for us to take us to our hotel
where we had diner.

Cairo.
After breakfast we had an information meeting with our hostess. She told us what to expect from this trip. She also had some useful tips. We had the afternoon off.

In the evening we visited the sound and light spectacle at the pyramids of Gizeh.
It really was a spectacle. We enjoyed it very much.
Cairo -->> Memphis -->> Sakkara -->> Gizeh -->> Cairo.
Our first trip this morning was to Memphis, the capitol of Egypt during the Old Kingdom.

 Alabaster Sphinx  Colossus of Ramesses 

Near the remains of Memphis stands the Alabaster Sphinx. The Alabaster Sphinx was carved in honor of an unknown Pharaoh. The Colossus of Ramesses is an enormous statue carved in limestone. It is about 10m (33.8 ft) long, even though it has no feet.
The fallen colossus was found near the south gate of the temple of Ptah.

Next stop was Sakkara where we visited the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

Next visit were the graves of Ti and Ptah-Hotep with there beautiful wall paintings.

After we had lunch in a local restaurant we went on to the Pyramids of Gizeh where 
we spent the entire afternoon.

We started the day by visiting the Mohammad Ali (Alabaster) Mosque in the Citadel 
and the Sultan Hassan Mosque. From the Mohammad Ali mosque we had a beautiful view on Cairo.
Before we visited the Coptic museum we had some thee at a restaurant by the Nile River. It would have been better if we didn't because everybody became very sick that afternoon. Most people went to bed without having dinner.
Cairo -->> Luxor.
After a real bad night we left the hotel and went to the Egyptian museum to
spent the day there until our train would leave for Luxor.

It was a great day the most impressive part of the museum were Tutankhamon’s treasures.
In the evening we went to the train station and took the night train to Luxor.
It was a very comfortable train with sleeping compartments.
Luxor.
We arrived at Luxor at 6 the next morning. The bus took us to the Winter Palace Hotel.

At 9 we left in carriages to the temple of Karnak with his obelisks of Tuthmosis and Hatshepsut  and the sacred lake. After having a drink in a small bar we left and went
to the temple of Luxor.

At the entrance is the great pylon of Ramesses and the obelisk which is one of a red
granite pair which Ramesses erected in front of the pylon. The obelisk twin is now at the Place de la Concorde, in Paris.

The rest of the afternoon we spent near the hotel. We took a walk along the river and 
lay at the pool of the hotel.
Luxor.
Today we are going to visit the west bank at Luxor.

First we went to see the Colossi of Memnon and the temple of Medinet Habu and Hatshepsut one of the few female faros.

Then we entered the Valley of the Kings. Here are many old graves like the grave of
Ramesses VI and the world famous grave of Tutankhamun
. In the evening we went 
to the Karnak temples and watch the sound and light show.
Luxor.
This was our day off.

We decided to take a tour to Dendera and visit the temple of Hathor.
Luxor -->> Aswan.
We left Luxor by bus to go to Aswan this was 208 km south of Luxor.

During the trip we visit the temple of Horus at Edfu. 


Temple of Kom Ombo

We also visited the temple of Kom Ombo.
We checked in at the New Cataract hotel in Aswan.

After breakfast we made a felouka sailing trip.

Kitchner's Island View from the Island

We visited Elephantine Island, the Mausoleum of the Aga Khan and kitchner's Island's botanical garden.

Lake Nasser  Temples of Philea

In the afternoon we went to Lake Nasser and the temples of Philea.
Aswan.
This morning we got on a plane and went to Abu Simbel.

The salvage operation of this temple began in 1964 and continued until 1968, the two temples were dismantled and rebuild again.

Our last day in Aswan we spent on taken a boat trip.

We visit a Nubian village and drank some thee with a family that lived there.
It was a nice experience. In the evening we left Aswan and got on the train
again to go back to Cairo.

In the morning we arrived back in Cairo. This was our last day in Egypt tomorrow we are going home.

This last day we spent at the pyramids, we took a trip on a camel for the first time in
our life.
Cairo -->> Amsterdam.
This was it our vacation was over we had a great time and we met some very nice people on this trip.
