On March 30, 1999, we left the comforts of home in Chicago and began a 14
month journey by plane, bus, ferry, and foot through five continents, over 30 countries,
and too many cities to count.
We have developed this site for our family and friends to follow us during
our "foray into the unknown," learn a little about the places we visit (as we
do), and share in our experiences. But mostly so they can avoid the 2 hour slideshow when
we get back.
To find out who we are and why we would do something like this, start with
Who We Are. We have also put together an ever-changing Itinerary of all the places we plan to see; but other
than some plane tickets already purchased, we have built in a lot of flexibility so we can
easily deviate from the plan as we go.
Since we decided to bring a small laptop with us, we hope to update our Journal as frequently as we can. This will probably be an
easier task in Europe than on our safari or trek in Nepal. If you would like to
know what we're bringing with us, see our Packing Lists, For
information on how we planned for our trip check out our References
and favorite Links.
And be sure to sign-up to join our mailing list
below; you will receive an email notifying you each time we post an update.
We hope you enjoy our site ~ please send us lots of email along the way
