April 29, 1999 - Toledo, Spain

We went to the bus station our second-to-last day in Madrid to find out what time the bus left for Barcelona, and discovered we had 20 minutes to catch a bus to Toledo. We looked at each other and decided "what the heck?"

Our several hours in Toledo were ample to climb the steep streets of the town and get lost a couple times, enjoy the mountainous scenery, and see the swords and armour Toledo is world-famous for. We even managed to visit a church and check out some cloisters.

It was a cute little town; we got lost a few times on the windy, unmarked streets and enjoyed donning metal apparel and attempting new fencing moves. Besides, the famous Puerta Bisagra (Gate of Bisagra) was "closed for repair" and covered with scaffolding.

We are sure we could have seen and done more, but it was time to pack up our stuff and get ready to head to Barcelona.
