Welcome to Melbourne, the home of Aussie Rules, the Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Open. Located in the very south of the country in the Garden State Victoria, Melbourne was my home for 8 happy months.

Melbourne is a unique, wonderful city, totally different in environment and atmosphere to Sydney.
There is a great rivalry between the two cities and you always get asked the question, "which city do you prefer?" My personal choice is Melbounre, proably because it was my home and I fitted in, felt welcome. Its a city with soul, with a heartbeat and if you spend some time there, you'll soon discover how underated the place is.

At night, the city comes to life, there are many great places to go to suit all tastes. There are many Irish style pubs throughout Melb, one one I highly reccommend is a little place call "PUG MAHONES" which is located on Hardware St, just off Collins & Little Collins Street in the hearth of the city.

This was my local and has a wonderful friendly atmosphere with many Backpackers there, especially on the Backpacker nights where there is plenty of free beer to be won. There is usually live music on most nights and things really heat up on weekends
