The Blue maountains, part of the great dividing range, were an impenetrable barrier to white expansion from Sydney.
It wasnt untill 1813 when a crossing was finally made and the western planes were opened up.
Previously, it was thought for some unknown resason that on was other side were colonies of convicts from China.
