Vamana
During the Treta Yuga Vishnu descended upon the earth to grant a boon to Aditi
(mother of the devas): to protect her sons . These last have been defeated by asura's army,
and now King Bali (Prahlada's grandson) was ruling over the tree worlds. Vishnu assumed the role of a Aditi's
son and changed his form to that of Vamana . Then he showed himself where Bali was performing
a sacrifice, and requested to Bali a strip of land long as three his strides.
Bali, acting in opposition to his guru's advice, who realised that Vamana was none other than Vishnu,
consented to dwarf bramana 's humble demand. Suddenly
Vamana began to grow and to measure the three strides, with the first he covered the heart,
with the second the heavens, and the third on Bali's head.
This avatar is also worshipped as Trivikrama,and Ulagalanda-Peruma.
