Where Pete Has Been
Welcome to the archives. This page is going to end up being pretty damn long since I don't feel like being organized enough to give each year its own page. ENJOY!
Any date on the timeline that's in big letter underlined has a photo section.
.-) 's First Three Years:
July 29, 1997 (approx.)- Alex takes .-) with him to Hawaii. It is .-)'s first airplane ride. In Hawaii .-) got to lie on the beach, go on a boat ride and sit near a real Hawaiian pineapple. .-) managed to come back in one piece.
August 10, 1997 (approx.)- Pete gets taken with Random to a Californian bowling alley. .-) got taped to a bowling ball and rolled down the alley and got a strike! No .-)s were harmed during the process.
August 12-15, 1997 (approx.)- Patrick takes .-) with him to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Pat came up with the idea of posting .-)'s picture on the window of his car to let everyone know that .-) was on board. This is something you may also want to do. It may become very fashionable and hip. Pat lost .-)'s picture on one of the days but made another one in time to bring him to the Boston Aquarium.
August 20, 1997 (approx.)- Pat brought .-) with him on a road trip across the eastern seaboard for no apparent reason. .-) got to visit New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and while he was there, Washington D.C. .-) didn't get to do anything but look out the window though.
September 8, 1997- I took .-) to a flea market in Massachusetts. He bought a Chewbacca Pez dispenser and "Late Night with David Letterman: The Book."
October 24- Random took .-) to a fancy hotel in Los Angeles. .-) was put onto the side of a glass elevator whenever they were in it. No one recognized him, but some people did ask, "What the heck was that picture you were holding up in the elevator?" to which Random replied, "He's Pete, he's a pirate, arrrr"
November 26-27- .-) went with me to Cape Cod. Not only did he get to have Thanksgiving at a restaurant, but he also saw many interesting pirate things.
February 16, 1998 - Random went to Disneyland with .-) for her bithday. Donald Duck waved at her, she screamed, and .-) got scared. .-) went on Splash Mountain and got slightly damp. He got held up to the window on the submarines so he could see the fake mermaids. Also, .-) went on The Pirates of The Carribean once, and then four more times because he and Random did not get off the boat. During the night he had a glow necklace put threw his paper and Random put it on her head.
April 16, 1998 - .-) went with me and Drew to a They Might Be Giants concert and had a giant time. .-) had one of the greatest times.
May 1, 1998 - .-) went with me and a bunch of friends to see Les Miserables the movie. I had to hold him up so he could see it with his one good eye. .-) liked it especially because Claire Danes was in it.
June 2, 1998- This time .-) and a couple friends went to see Godzilla 1998. .-) hated so much that half way through the movie I had put him in my pocket so he could go to sleep.
July 17, 1998- One-Eyed Pete's Birthday Party. We had a cake shaped like an anchor. Random gave him a new leather eyepatch and I got him a new sabre that he used to chase away the clown. I wrote a parody of TMBG's "It's Not My Birthday" which you can readhere.
July 30, 1998- Random took .-) to Mission Beach in San Diego. Her friend Corey took him to the water and .-) smudged. .-) was drenched so he was laid out on the towel to dry. There was not enough money to scrounge up so .-) could not go on the roller coaster.
July 30, 1998- Ben Wilcox managed to take .-) to the They might Be Giants concert at the Hatch Shell in Boston the same day he was in San Diego. How this works, I have no idea. The lines to meet the Johns were long, but .-) almost got to meet Flansburgh, but Flans left early. Go see the pictures.
July 31-August 2, 1998- I took .-) to Cape Cod. He got to sit in the window and look at all the great shoppes. At the beach I put him in my copy of Full Circle so he wouldn't get burned like me. I also took him to the Pirate's Cove store, but he didn't buy anything because it's all kid's stuff there.
August 4-24, 1998- Elliot Harmon took .-) to Missoula, Montana. See it here! .-) Destinations: Sturgis Bike Rally, WCW Thunder live wrestling, Independence Rock, Raspberrry Festival, EBR-1, Craters of Moon National Park, MCT Performing Arts Camp, Going-to-the-Sun Highway and Glacier International Pleace Park.
September 8, 1998- Sarah Faye brought .-) to New York City. .-) barely made the 1:59 Metro North commuter train from New Rochelle to Grand Central Station and then to Astor Place. They went to a Starbucks (Random won't like this) for a few minutes, then went up St. Mark's Place to Kim's Music and Video. They then went up the street to Freaks, where we looked through six hundred tshirts. They went into Andromeda Records and Venus Records, where they got Bad Religion's album "No Substance". Then they went to McDonalds, where they ate little nuggets of fat. Finally they went to St Mark's Bookstore and bought 76 dollars worth of books and magazines, and also got the Village Voice. They got back on the subway and caught the 5:38 Metro North train back to New Rochelle.
September 12, 1998- Random brought .-) to his 3rd They Might Be Giants concert and her first TMBG concert. Once again, .-) missed an opportunity to get signed by the Johns. They did Spy, and Exquisite Dead Guy with those creepy doll heads. Reportedly, "it was really really cool." After they sang Shoehorn With Teeth they did it again as it would sound in fastforward. ::DING::
September 20, 1998 (approx.)- Sarah Faye took .-) to the SoHo district of New York. They left New Rochelle at about 10 am. They then proceeded to Canal Street, where they went to Pearl Paint, a huge discount art supply store in Chinatown. After, they walked into SoHo itself and visited a few art galleries. They stopped and talked to a few people who were selling their art on the streets, and Sarah's friend Kai bought a painting from a Russian guy for twenty dollars. Back to the car after that and went to the East Village, and went to a Polish restaurant and had pierogies. They walked down St. Mark's Place after lunch. After that we got back in the car and drove into Greenwich Village, where thy drove down Christopher Street, saw lots of rainbow flags and ambiguously gay people. Too bad .-) can't paint.
October 16, 17, 1998- Sarah Faye took .-) to two They Might Be Giants concerts and a TMBG instore appeance. He went to the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. .-) almost fell into a beer, but escaped without injury. During the show, someone upzipped Sarah's bag and all the stuff, WITH .-), fell on the floor! He was on the floor and was covered by confetti from the confetti cannon before he was retrieved. Despite this, the concert was reportedly "awesome."
October 27, 1998- Emily Slater brought .-) to a Squirrel Nut Zippers concert at the University of Connecticut. They had very good seats. Alas, there was no mosh pit for .-), just swing dancing which .-) refused to participate in.
February 5, 6, 1999- .-) 's first activity for 1999 was a talent show at my school. I was in a skit in the show. I had no lines and just walked across the stage, each time with a different hat. Each night, I had .-) on the side of one of the hats so that the audience could see him. He did a great job.
March 29, 1999- Pat O'Brien put .-) in his movie for school. The movie was about slavery and .-) was in the final credits.
April 2, 3, 1999- I brought .-) on a trip to Boston. I forgot to take him to the Prudential building, though. If I go again, .-) will get to be all the way up there, 50 stories up looking down on Boston.
May 9, 1999- One-Eyed Pete went with Sarah Faye to an Underworld concert. They were in the front row and Sarah stuck .-) to the front of the barrier so he could see. They gave an awesome show, which Pete seemed to like. None of the security guys bothered him, and he was right in the action.
May 15, 1999- Sarah Faye took .-) to another TMBG concert! .-) went to the early show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City with friends Sara and, Andrew. Reportedly, it rocked the house. Pete and Sarah also met fellow Muser Deb Levison, and
after the show the four of them and .-) went to Dojo Restaurant in the East Village.

Sometime in May- Maybe .-)'s farthest journey from home (it's hard to pinpoint a emoticon's birthplace) here is .-) with Jim Boswell inside the Australian Parliament House (left). Photo courtesy of Ryan Mooney.
May 27, 1999- Girkabob (to right) brought .-) over her house in Festus, Missouri, for a day. .-) had a fun time on his first trip to Missouri.

June 11, 1999- Mike Remiker took .-) to an Elvis Costello concert. .-)'s favorite part was when EC ripped his guitar strings out during "(I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea." .-) also really liked when he played "Alsion" and went right into "In The Darkest Place." .-) said he wasn't expecting that. .-) couldn't believe that EC played for 2 1/2 hours. To the left is a picture of Mike and .-) at Mike's house a few weeks after the concert. He didn't mean to look that angry.

July 19, 1999- Deborah Levison took .-) to a They Might Be Giants concert at Irving Plaza, NY, where they met up with Shana Carter, Chris Lough, and Sara Grady. To the left is a pic of Deb and Sara.
July 21, 1999- .-) went to a Weird Al Yankovic concert with Random at the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa, California. She forgot to bring him until just as Weird Al walked on stage, sh
e remembered and drew him on a piece of paper and held him up so he could see Al.
July 22, 1999- Sarah Faye took .-) to Toad's Place in New Haven, CT, for a Frank Black concert.

July 24, 1999- Sarah Faye went to the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, NY, and got .-) signed by the band Moxy Fruvous! Semi-famous people and signed .-) ! Woo! The members of the band are Jian Ghomeshi, Mike Ford, Dave Matheson, and Murray Foster, all of whom signed .-) if you can't read their signatures. .-) said that getting autographed "tickled." Also, band member Jian saw that Sarah was wearing a They Might Be Giants shirt and sang at her, "They might be giants, boy! They might be giants!" Sorry, if you're not a TMBG fan you won't understand that.
August 20 - 28, 1999- Deborah Levison took .-) to Paris, France! See the page for more.
October 29, 1999- I took .-) to a They Might Be Giants concert with friends that I know from real life, and scary friends that I had only previously known from the internet! See the page for pictures.
November 20, 1999- Arvid Engen brought .-) to John Linnell's instore concert in Los Angeles. Click to see some pictures.
November 21, 1999- Random and Napoleon brought .-) to John Linnell's concert at the Coach Hall in San Juan Capistrano, California. Reportedly, it was "spiffy." They had seats right up against the stage, so Pete got to actually sit on the stage during the show. He reports that the opening bands were actually not that bad -- in fact, he rather enjoyed the second one, and approved of Random's decision to buy one of their CDs. However, the highlight of Pete's evening was, of course, when Linnell came on. Random and Napoleon made sure to wave Pete around, and several times they got weird stares from Linnell for that. Maybe John remembered .-) from the night before?
December 4 - 11
, 1999- I went to Orlando, Florida and took .-) along. Click to see the pics.

Unknown date- Mike Remiker took .-) to a Morrissey concert. I can't remember when it was or where it was, but I assume it was in Wisconsin and the concert was pretty good. Click on the thumbnail to the left to see the whole picture.
March 17, 2000- I was going to bring .-) to an Incubus concert and take pictures there, but apparently one of the band members overdosed on cocaine and it was canceled. We went to the China Buffet instead. Pete loved the ramen noodles and pork fried rice. I took a picture of my friend Fab and .-) underneath its beautiful sign.

May 19, 2000- I went to Physics Day at Six Flags New England with school and brought .-) along. We went on the Superman roller coaster, the Hellevator, or whatever they call it, and the Handjob coaster, where I got a handjob from the attendant. To the left is .-) with Pat next to the Hellevator and to the right is me in the Superman the Ride gift shop next to Batman boxers.
June 8, 2000- On this day, I graduated from Wolcott High School. At the graduation, .-) was on my cap as well as Pat's. To the left is a picture of Pat's cap while it was on his head. Unfortunately, .-) is on the shiny part so you can't see him.
June 17, 2000- Me and .-) went to a graduation party at my friend Kristen's house. I tried to keep him dry during the water fights at her pool. To the right you can see .-) enjoying sitting in some watermelon.
June 20 - 29, 2000- .-), myself and Pat went over to Italy and hung out for a while. Click for a full page of pictures!
July 27 - 29, 2000- .-) and myself went down to West Grove, Pennsylvania to meet up with Mike Remiker, Spencer Owen and the entire Spinto Band! Click for pictures and the story.
October 7, 2000- I brought .-) to an awesome Flaming Lips concert at The Chance theather in Poughkeepsie, New York. I had only a short roll of film since I bought a new camera, and I wasted all my photos on the Lips. I didn't have a chance to photograph .-), the guy who let me into the 21 and over show (i love that guy) or Bridget and Andy from New Jersey, who drove all the way up for the show, and then drove me back to school.
Later October, 2000- I'm at school at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and my friend Caitlin and I decided to take .-) around to some of the more interesting spots on campus. Including Dead Kid Cave and the basement of the Champagnat dorm during construction.

November 30, 2000- I went to the special They Might Be Giants "Flood" show in New York City at the Bowery Ballroom with my friend Caitlin. The show was amazing, as it is an amazing album, and I took a few pictures of .-) at Grand Central Station. One of Caitlin and .-) with the station in the back (click on the left thumbnail) and one of .-) after we put him on the escalator, never to see him again.(click the right thumbnail)
