From the Nile to the Indian Ocean

a seven week tour of Uganda, northern Tanzania and Zanzibar in
January and February 1998

Introduction

This is the story of how two elderly gentlemen from Copenhagen arranged and realised the journey of their dreams.

It all began a long time ago, but more precisely in March 1997 at Tiskita in Costa Rica, where they met a UK couple who raved about Ngorongoro and Serengeti, and about a balloon safari over Serengeti at sunrise. This kindled their imagination and this, together with their long nourished dream of seeing the mountain gorillas of Uganda, made them set about planning their big East African Odyssey as soon as they got back to Denmark. They both appreciate their comforts, the one perhaps a little more than the other. But none of them is averse to a few hardships in order to get some serious wildlife viewing done.
