Train Operators in East Anglia

Anglia Railways
The principal operator of InterCity... oops sorry, Main Line trains and local services. These include most trains out of Ipswich and Norwich, the two main stations under Anglia control.

Central Trains
Central Trains runs trains from Norwich and Stansted Airport to Birmingham or Liverpool using Class 158 Express DMUs.

Direct Rail Services
The familiar Class 20 'Chopper' locomotives of this company run from Sizewell Nuclear Power Station, carrying nuclear flasks.

English Welsh & Scottish Railway
The main railfreight operator in the country has a prescence in Anglia with lots of sand, stone, fuel and other freight services. Motive power in this region is dominated by 37s, 58s and 60s. But now the Class 66 'Sheds' are beginning to creep into East Anglia :(

First Great Eastern
The former Network SouthEast sector is now in the hands of FirstGroup, and runs commuter services between London and Essex, continuing to Ipswich.

Freightliner
Freightliner is the main operator of container trains to the large container port of Felixstowe. Class 47s, 57s and now 66s are used in the main, and are beginning to adopt the new "Norwich City" colours.

West Anglia Great Northern
WAGN run commuter services out of Liverpool Street and Kings Cross to the London suburbs, and all the way through to Kings Lynn and Doncaster.
