This is a country full of beautiful people and beautiful nature. You wonder how it's

possible to keep the mountains, lagoons, beaches and forest this postcard perfect

after devastating cyclone visits, without covering it all up during the night or for the

entire duration of the wet seasons.

Mutiny on the Bounty

After the mutiny on the Bounty Fletcher Christian returned to the sailor's paradise

of Tahiti with the other mutineers and the loyalists who couldn't fit in Bligh's over-

crowded launch. Well known Tahiti was not safe for the mutineers who after failing

to colonize the Tubuai Islands threw a party on the Bounty in the Bay of Matavai in

Tahiti - where no loyalists were invited.

Very drunk some locals went to sleep below, and still slept as the Bounty silently set

sail leaving the lagoon. Close to the island of Tetiaroa (which would later be bought

by Fletcher Christian alias Marlon Brando) a woman realizing what had happened

jumped overboard. But now the mutineers had "wives" and a few locals - a small

society able to begin a new life somewhere.

The remaining number of locals were reduced and the ship set off on a long voyage

taking them through the barely known Tongas and Cooks before the Bounty finally

ended on the bottom of Bounty Bay Pitcairn 1790. Meanwhile Bligh and his party

had finally and incredibly reached Coupang on Timor and he was on his way home

to England where he'd do all he could to send out a search party that could bring

the mutineers to justice.

The sailors still on Tahiti now only had limited time left before ending up in Pandora's

Box on the deck of H.M.S. Pandora which after searching in vain for Fletcher Christian

would end up on the bottom of the Coral Sea.

When I heard a beautiful Samoan girl say that the Eastern Polynesians of the Society

Islands were beautiful even compared to Samoans, I thought "Yeah Right!" - check it

out and form your own opinion. Anyway - Tahitians are tall, slim, darker, long wavy

black hair and big white smiles. If you speak French this is the one place it could do

you any good, since these folks are not as easygoing as other Polynesians you'll meet

in the South Pacific.
