"You lie on a mat in a cool Samoan hut and look out on the white sand under the
high palms and the gentle sea, and the black line of the reef a mile out and moonlight
over everything...
"And the among it all are the loveliest people in the world, moving and dancing like
gods and goddesses.
"It is sheer beauty, so pure it is difficult to breathe in it."
by Rupert Brooke, written more than 100 years ago but still true if you manage to
get out of town (most travelers don't get out except for organized one day trips).

The Samoas are home to a bronze colored easygoing people. It's a place where
traditional Polynesian lifestyle is an essential part of everybody's' everyday life.
Respect their customs and the Samoans will meet you with warm hospitality. My
first visit here was extended to months by circumstances you can't control, and I
quickly learned to appreciate this as the highlight of my first RTW trip. I've been
back and I hope to go back

Every day around sunset a deep vibrating sound from a conch made in to a wind-
instrument is signaling vesper. All other activity must come to a stop. I find it difficult
to believe that the expression "No tobacco - no hallelujah" should come from here.
