Ibo
Diving around Ibo is all concentrated around the north-east, outside the
lighthouse. Great reefs with drop-offs, dolphins and lobster.
Ibo
is a facinating island with a history of slave-trading and Portugese
Colonialism.
Today the island is in a poor state as the images will show, but is being rapidly rebuilt. WWF are spending a lot on renovating the old historical houses to accomodate their delegates in "comfort",as the Quirimbas has recently become a protected area. Tourism is slowly returning and hopefully will not spoil the beauty.
Limited accomodation is available. Wildlifeadventures.co.za
are opening a lodge on Ibo and have Divers who know the area extremely well.
To get there drive to Quissanga, continue down to Tanganyanga and rent a dhow
for the short crossing.
