WHAT HAS BECOME OF CLASS '78 ....

What has become of the members of Class '78? About 25% are Pediatricians, thirty-two (32) to be exact: Eloisa Acosta, Rebecca Acuña, Olive Alegre, Pilip Anchores, Patty Araneta, Linda Bacallan, Cleo Bondad (Neonatology), Mary Lynn Chu (Neurology), Abet dela Cruz (Neonatology), Grace Espejo (Neonatology), Myrna Fojas (Neurology), Nanette Galang, Loida Galvez, Boy Garcia (Neonatology), Benny Gatchalian, Malen Hebron (Neurology), Vicky Lou Herrera (Cardiology), Chuch Lim (Neonatology), Arlene Mendoza, Noreen Pangandaman, Nans Repane, JingJing Reyes, Elvie Rubia, Peachy Salisi, Lani Serquiña, Rumie Su (Developmental), Da Talisayon, Tina Tanchico, Paul Tuazon, Betty Yu (Neonatology), and May Zabala (Allergology/Immunology). Eileen Primero has recently finished her Pediatric residency, after finishing her Rehab Medicine in PGH. Twenty-one (21) are Internists: Ding Cañete, Mary Ann Lansang, and Chichi Poblete are Infectious Disease experts. For dermatological problems, the local experts are Ning Enrile and Gina Concepcion; in New York, the expert is Bambi Sison. The Nephrologists are Ellen Daquioag, Reggie Liboro, and Nonoy Magbuhos. Four T's are Cardiologists: Paul Tan, Ed Timbol, Lily Tugbang, and Ramon Ty. Our lone Gastroenterologist is Felix Zano. Most of our parents with Diabetes are handled by Ruby Go (Endocrinologist). Sally Nicdao is a Neurologist. Luchie Sison is into Allergology. Ging Garbes and Joy Celo are Hema-Oncologists. Wawee Garcia is into Critical Care Medicine. Janny Estrada is in Internal Medicine-Family Medicine practice.
We have seventeen

Jing Cabrera (GS), Teng Castillo (Plastic), Albert Dy (Orthopedics), Danny
Erfe (TCVS), Amado Enriquez (TCVS), Bolits Gana (Urology), Mat Guanzon
(TCVS), Reggie Gener (GS), Au Lopez practices as an ER physician (GS),
Bobot Morte (Orthopedics), Gimo Narvaez (GS), Mike Rivera (Orthopedics),
Zen Roxas (GS), Cynch Ruiz (Orthopedics), Lou Santos (GS), Mon Soriano
(Orthopedics), and Choy Tupas (GS). Eleven (11) are Obstetrician-Gynecologists,
who are willing to offer their services to those entering menopause ( no
more pregnancy consultations!). These are: Vivian Cañete, Bess Cordero,
Lulu Jalbuena, Pilar Lagman, Helen Mandanas, Marie Miravite, Pai Reinoso,
Nanette Santiago, Caesar Tongo, Cesar Ubaldo, and Jody Vergeire. Ten (10)
have opted to become Psychiatrists,
one of whom is more than qualified by virtue of experience. These are Chito
Crisostomo, Ami Cruz, Rolly Hong, Meade Ignacio, Alice Lucindo, Elvie Pascua,
Cecille Pasion, Eng-Chin Reperoga, Menchie Temprosa, and Maselle Virey.
Except for Vic Alabastro, all six (6) Radiologists
belong to the latter groups of the class, in terms of alphabetical listing:
Nelson Santos, Pol Uichanco (Neuroimaging), Anchit Uy-Baretta, Ninoy Villanueva,
and Glenn Yazon. There are also six (5) classmates who are into Family
Medicine. These are: Zeny Asuncion, Jun
Cabato, Imee Fontelera, Vic Gutierrez and Freddie Hernandez.. Those with
the letter "C", either in their family names for first names are the Ophthalmologists,
five (5) of them. These are Normal Capili, Nabs Cañero, Jun Capino,
Demi de Castro, and Ric San Juan. We have five (5) Anesthesiologists
(actually six, if we include Aline Valencia,
who passed away on February 1991): Arlene Andaya, Jun Gidaya, Dave Joco,
Marissa Umali, and Maribel Villanueva. Two are (2) Pathologists,
whose surnames start with the letter "C":
Chan, and Cualing. Another three (3) are ENT
specialists: Jan Lopez, Felix Nolasco,
and Rudy Nonato. We have two (2) working in the Department
of Health: Myrna Cabotaje is with the
Cordillera Health Department, while Marl Mantala is with the DOH National
Anti-TB program. Two (2) more finished Rehab
Medicine in the Philippines, but are presently
in the United States training in Pediatrics: Eileen Primero has recently
finished pediatric residency, and Mariles Viloria. Octave Daoa enjoyed
his internship rural rotation in Victoria, Laguna so much that he opted
to stay and raise his family there. Sid Sia is now the Assistant
to the Chancellor of UP.
