*Alma, "Spinach Capital of the World" - Tons of spinach are packed here each year for the Popeye brand.  An 8 ft. statue of the cartoon character stands downtown, and a huge spinach can serves as the town's water tower.

*Arkansas - Missouri Train - Ride the train from Van Buren to Springdale!  $17.00 per person on Wednesday, $19.00 per person on Saturday. Scenic ride through the Boston Mountains.  This is the same trip Belle Starr took from her home in Winslow to her Brothel in Van Buren! Ride through Chester and Winslow; locations for the movie "Frank and Jesse", starring Rob Lowe and Randy Travis (among others).

*Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair - Kay Rodgers Park on Midland Blvd., Ft. Smith.  Held in September each year.  Nightly entertainment, livestock shows and much more.
 
* Frontier Belle - Mike Meyers Riverfront Park, Van Buren.  Sightseeing excursions, luncheon and dinner cruises; historical narration.

*Hanging Judge Chuckwagon/Hayride - Clayton Expressway across from Miss Laura's visitors information center, Fort Smith.  Groups experience the Old West on a haywagon, complete with desperadoes, dancing Native Americans, a beautiful songstress, a sheriff, and a meal at the trail's end.

*Historic Downtown Van Buren Shopping District - Six blocks of art galleries, antique shops, Victoriana, restaurants, and historical attractions.

*Old Fort Days Rodeo - Fort Smith.  Held Memorial Day Week each year, it features the "world's largest and richest" barrel race futurity.  Thousands of horses from 38 states and Canada.

*Ozark Bridge - Ozark.  Spanning the Arkansas River as Scenic Ark. 23, this structure is listed as one of the 16 most beautiful long spans in the U.S. by the Amer. Inst. of Steel Construction.  A new lighting project showcases the structure at night.

*Cowie Wine Cellars - Ark. 22, Paris.  Winery tours and tastings; the Gallery of Barrels features scenes depicting history of winemaking.  New wine museum.

*Mount Bethel Winery - U.S. 64, Altus.  Historic cellar offers over 100-year-old tradition of wine making, bottling, and tasting, plus tours.

*Post Familie Winery - Ark. 186, Altus.  A fifth generation family-operated vineyard and winery since 1880 offers tours that include wine and juice tastings, grape-related gift shop.

*Wiederkehr Wine Cellars - Ark. 186, Altus.  Swiss-German heritage, tours and wine tastings, restaurant, gift shop; family-owned since 1880.
