THE FINAL LOOK

The old building was hidden by metal cladding when the Whitbread Stand, later to be known as the Billy Boston Stand, was built in 1991.

CAMERAS ON BUSES
Buses in Wigan are about to be installed with hidden cameras, in a bid to help prevent violence on buses. The Bus station in Wigan has recently seen three similar attacks on teenage girls in a month(See September 8th news) and the mother of one 15-yr-old victim has praised the plans, she said, "I think it's a brilliant idea. If it could have persuaded my daughter's attacker to think again then it must be a good thing."
Chairman of GMPTA, Councillor Joe Clarke, said "The hidden cameras will not only make buses safer for passengers and drivers, but will also increase the likelihood of offenders being caught and prosecuted.
"Bus travel in Greater Manchester is safe at present, but so long as there remains repeated incidents of anti-social behaviour on buses in the county, there is room for improvement.
"By putting cameras on buses we hope to deter the kind of behaviour that puts passengers at risk and create a safer environment for all bus users."
