Standard Outside Stateroom on Regal Princess
A PARNAMI Cruise Page

Outside staterooms are similar, virtually identical to standard inside cabins in layout and amenities.  They too, come in two different floor plans with the brochure, again, providing no indication as to which is which.   My preference is for the one which places the bed(s) nest to the common wall freeing up access to the window area.
There is a common misconception that standard outside cabins contain more cabin area than do those with verandahs.  The rumor goes on to state that for those containing balconies, the balcony space is "cut" from what otherwise would have been interior space.  While, at first glance, this DOES appear to be the case, the reality is, it's not!  Truth is, the balcony of balcony cabins is so narrow that it becomes a virtual wash for the WIDE exterior wall of the standard cabin.  In other words, don't book a standard outside cabin seeking to gain additional interior room.  It doesn't exist!
All outside cabins provide twin beds able to be joined to form a queen sized, hair drier, safe and refrigerator.  The bathroom, while small, is still much larger than those typically found on ships of Royal Caribbean.  The shower stall is large enough to accommodate two, friendly adults.  (Hmm...I wonder why that would even be of concern to anyone? )
Cabin meal service is limited (the complete room service menu is provided on the mini-suite page).  There is no provision for in cabin dining off the dining room menu, although, it is available when needed.
Regal Princess continues to use punched key cards for cabin access rather than passenger cruise cards.  Passengers are requested to leave their key cards in the cabin when they vacate.  This means, contrary to the intent of the system, the locks are NOT changed after each cruise!  Prior inhabitants of a cabin, by failing to turn in their keys, have continued access to their formerly occupied cabins!  BEWARE!
Princess cruises continues to treat its passengers as adults, permitting personal alcohol to be brought on board with the proviso that it is intended to be consumed in the privacy of ones stateroom and not in the ship's public areas.  Unlike Royal Caribbean, Carnival, (and Celebrity which formally prohibits but rarely enforces) and other ships of the "party line crowd" passengers are not searched for liquor which if found, is confiscated and held until the last night of the cruise.  Thank you Princess for respecting the privacy of your customers!
NOTE: Beginning September, 2001, Princess FORBIDS PERSONAL ALCOHOL TO BE TAKEN ON BOARD THE SHIP FOR IN CABIN CONSUMPTION!   This is an example of how, like cancer, a bad policy of one line can infect an entire industry!  It's now up to us as customers, to put up a stink big enough to force a return to our being treated as adults rather than as adolescent children under the new policy!  If you find your liquor being confiscated at the gangway, VOICE YOUR DISPLEASURE AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE!  We CAN succeed in getting this thing changed!
