April
Here's a shot of my first artichoke of the season - had it for dinner 3/30!
And there's a baby one in the lower right corner.
My yellow roses are starting to bloom, and the pink is in bud..
Looks like I have lots of blue "bearded" iris - this is the second location to bloom.
And, out front, the lilac I planted from a 6" tall stick is blooming for the first time!
Flowers from the white garden: calla lilies, ranunculus and freesia.
The orange tulips out back are blooming, amid the forget-me-nots; the red freesia is stunning.
More tulips from out back - white and prolific naturalizers.
One week later ...
Bearded iris (from Scott's garden) - the first on the left is quite unusually colored.
White flowers - tulips out back and Dutch iris and callas out front.
Firsts: clematis, Princess Elizabeth rose and bud break on the grape vines.
An unusual yellow & white Dutch iris, more lilac and the yellow rose breaking forth in blooms

April 23 update
Let's start out with the roses: top left are the neighbor's tree roses, which are out front on the property line. The yellow rose is in profuse bloom, and the shot just doesn't even begin to show how many buds are in bloom. The Princess Elizabeth, the pink, is beginning to open up, and looking out my office window is a treat during daylight.
SIx of the bearded iris now in bloom - I missed a picture of the dark, near black variety, which will hopefully survive the storms due over the next few days. The "red", which I think are closer to "rootbeer" are the most prolific and there's one more shot below.
More red iris, more artichokes. The clematis out back by the dwarf lemon is blooming, with the one on the arbor showing buds. I'll need to get some shots of the white clematis in front, which is part of the "white garden", which had lots of white Dutch iris in bloom over Easter weekend.
