Now, a month later, the trip starts to blur. I know I had another restful, peaceful sleep, looking out at the lights of the resort as I went to sleep, and the dawn sky as the sun tried to surmount the coastal hills/mountains. I took a lot of pictures of the house, knowing that I was heading out to Velas later that Sunday.
When you arrive at Hacienda del Mar, the house is down from the road. You enter through a pair of old wooden doors and come into an open air receiving area with a fountain.
Down a few more steps (past the powder room,) you arrive at the dining area, with the kitchen off to the left through a pair of heavy wooden doors. [I didn't take pictures in the kitchen, but it has a large pantry, a sub-zero refrigerator/freezer, a separate ice maker, a wine cooler, dishwasher, double sink, and 6-burner gas stove, all around a central island. It's a kitchen any cook would love.]
The dining area is open to the living room, with it's Mexican colonial furnishings and a small fireplace. Large sliding doors allow for the room to be closed in, but the weather was so glorious, the room was opened out onto the deck most of the time I was there.
This first shot is looking up to the receiving area from the dining room. The next two shots are of the dining room - the latter from about where I took the first of these three shots.
Here are two shots of the living room, taken from the access to the deck. There was too much light to take shots out towards the water from these areas.
Out from the living area, the first deck area is under an overhang of the house, with a small step down to the pool deck. There's a heated (not while I was there - not needed!) pool, and wonderful views of the bay and the gardens Graham has tended. The master bedroom is off this deck, and has a huge bathroom and large marble tub, walk-in closet, and similar views (but not as spectacular, I think) as mine upstairs. Besides, Graham kept the windows and blinds pulled most of the time.
The pool, and two shots of the deck area..
Here are two shots of the master bedroom..
Now, behind the living area is the walkway to the deck and MBR, and a stair down to the maid's quarters, laundry and the fourth bedroom. That latter bedroom is used as an office, and opens out onto the lower gardens.
An overlook shot from the main deck down to the patio outside the fourth bedroom, and the flowers visible from that room.
