Christmas 2001
My sister Amy and her son Sam moved to a new townhouse in Los Altos during the month before the year-end holidays. They invited me to join them for Christmas breakfast, arriving early enough to open presents.
The evening before, I'd been out to friends - my Rome-trip partner Scott and her sister had celebrated "Dupper Don" - the traditional Christmas Eve dinner and had asked me to join them and their family. Following that, I'd headed to Cupertino and the home of Ginny and Don for a "small" party in their cozy home. I'd gotten home late, so I didn't get up real early, since Amy had said she didn't expect Sam to be up early.
Well, I was sitting at my computer at home, just getting ready to call them at 9 am, and Sam called to find out how close I was to arriving. So I scampered and was there 45 minutes later. We opened presents, made calls to the rest of the family on the East Coast, and then Amy went in to make us breakfast while Sam gave me a tour and let me take some pictures of their house to share with the distant family.
This is the view of the three-unit complex from the street - Amy and Sam live at the opposite end and enter their garage from another street.
A rather out-of-focus shot of the front door to Unit C - their new home.
